The API-0100 Bar Code Validation System, using MICROSCAN fixed mount laser scanners, offers an economical "Bolt-on" solution ensuring 100% electronic validation of packaging materials at the point of usage. The API-0100 is readily adaptable to Labelers, Cartoners, Inserters, Tube Fillers, Bundle Wrappers, Presses and other Packaging Operations. Shipped as a complete kit, with total Engineering and User Documentation, the API-0100 is ready for mounting and equipment integration by your Engineers or API’s Technical Support Engineers, in most cases, within several hours.

Functional Description

The API-0100 Bar Code Validation System electronically challenges the barcode scanner on every read cycle. Failure to obtain a correct response or "MATCH" results in a "FAULT" condition and alarms the system. This feature offers security to ensure that mislabeling packaging errors will be detected. In a "FAULT" condition the API provides an audible alarm, flashing LED’s, and/or optically isolated output control voltage signals that can be used for stopping equipment operations or triggering a product reject mechanism. The API-0100 also provides four battery-backed LED counters to record the number of Triggers, Matches, Mis-Matches and No-Reads.

Secured Access To Set-up Options

The API-0100 "Reset" and "Learn" functions have keyed switch locks to insure that only authorized personnel have access to these options. The "LEARN" function is used to enter the "Master" barcode to be verified against. The "RESET" function locks out the operator from restarting the Packaging line when a barcode "Mismatch" or other fatal error occurs.
